Design Principles:
I used an interesting quote by Henry Ford at the top of the poster to draw user's attention and actually get them thinking about design. I also used images to show how people's form of transport has evolved from the horse cart initially to the ford model t and the high tech luxury cars we have now. This is eye catching and though provoking and helps draw viewer's attention to the poster. I kept in mind the Von Restorff effect by using a different form of WordArt to make the IEOR 170 stand out so that viewers remember the course number. I also did it in bright red so it would stand out. The highlights of the course were kept to a maximum of 2 words so the poster wasn't too wordy and they were alternately aligned to the right and left and brightly coloured in different colours and hence used the concept of preattentive processing. This also reduced the performance load on viewers and they are hence more likely to get a brief but clear idea of what they're in for when registering for this course. I used different font types for the quote at the top, the short points and the course title so viewers attention would be drawn to the different things instead of it seeming like a monotonous poster.
