[edit] Persuasive Design for Campus, City, and Community

[edit] Problem Statement

Student groups on campus often have difficulty advertising their events. Although they send emails to students and flier on campus, they sometimes do not reach as many students as they would like to. Publicity is very important because good participant turnout at an event guarantees its success. Students, at times, are also unaware of the many events that happen on campus and may learn of the event only after it occurred.

[edit] Proposed Solution

I suggest that there should be one website where all student groups can post their events. Interested students can use the website to search for events. The website would be different from current types of social networking websites because students would be able to search for events by location, day, student group, and type of event, among other things. Furthermore, all student activities and events would be on one website, making it easier for students to learn about the events happening on campus. Both student groups and students would benefit by such a website. A suggested layout of the website is drawn in Figure 1.

[edit] Target User Group

The target group would be student groups on campus. The website would serve as a means to publicize their events. The secondary target group would be students who would like to know about the various activities on campus.
