[edit] Target User Group

The product is designed for people that usually go to Berkeley campus by bus, for example, students that live far away from campus. Or people who live in Berkeley but work in other cities; they have to take bus. However, they may not know if they missed the bus or when the bus would come. Also, people do not know which bus they should take to somewhere.

[edit] Problem Description

1. Traffic- Even though we can easily find a bus schedule online or on buses, they seldom come exactly on time, and sometimes the bear transits do not even come. Also, due to the busy traffic in Berkeley, students sometimes do not know when the bus would come. So if the bus comes late without any notice, people would be late for school or work

2. Raining- Some bus stops in Berkeley do not have cover. So, it may be inconvenient for people to wait at the bus stop because they may not carry umbrella to school or work.

3. Also, people may not familiar with all bus routes in the city. If they want to go a new place, it is difficult for them to figure out available bus routes that work for them.

It counts how long it takes for the bus to arrive to a particular bus stop, and shows where the bus locates at. To avoid robbery of this technical product, I put it on top of the bus station so that it cannot be easily reached. Moreover, it is electrical and easy to operate.

1. Enter the bus number or location you want to go in the machine, then those searched information will be shown on the board (3).

2. A regular bus time table showing the scheduled time for the busese that arrive at the stop.

3. Shows the information that you are looking for, which includes the bus number, the nearest bus stop location, final destination, next arrival time to the stop. (eleronically)

4. Slide showing information of the buses that arrive to that stop, including the bus number, waiting time, and location of the buses. (eleronically)

5. All available buses at the stop.

[edit] Problem Context and Force

1. The product will be easily broken as it is not protected from water and dust. It should be protected by something, such as a waterproof case. Or, it should be placed under a cover.

2. Cost is another issue. We should analyze the repairing cost and manufacturing cost.
